Urgent debate requested after series of shootings in Amsterdam


The entire municipal council of Amsterdam has requested an urgent debate with Mayor Femke Halsema (Green Left) about five shootings in the space of four days in Amsterdam.  One person was killed and several were wounded. In addition, an explosive was taken apart.

Police Unions Claim Officers Have to Come Back from Holiday


The two police unions, NPB and ACP, claim that in summer the shortage of personnel is particularly bad.  Thus, policemen have to serve overtime and give up their free days between shift duty.  Sometimes they even have to interrupt their vacations.  The national police leadership and the police units in various areas do not agree to asking police officers to return from holidays.

Lack of youth care workers dramatic


Judges in family courts are very concerned about the waiting lists for protection services for youth.  The shortage of youth care workers has been a growing problem for months.  Some families are not helped for months.  One judge said that certain children are dealing with domestic violence, alcohol and drug abuse by parents and violent divorces, yet no youth care workers are available.

All Dutch municipalities get a monitoring point for aggressive dogs


There are about 1,5 million dogs in the Netherlands.  Data on dog bites are obsolete. In 2008 it was found that approximately 150 000 people were bitten by dogs annually.  One in five victims are children under the age of five.  In one of three incidents, a physician needed to be consulted.  Two hundred thirty people per year were hospitalized due to dog bites. Every community will now have a monitoring point for aggressive dogs and misbehavior of dog owners.

Dutch Chief Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs Exposes Dutch and Belgian Antisemitism

Dutch Chief Rabbi Jacobs mentions examples of Belgian and Dutch antisemitism.  He specifically mentions the Dutch vote for the condemnation of Israel by the United Nations which falsely claims that Palestinian women are being discriminated against.  He recalled the saving of the Israeli hostages in Entebbe Uganda in 1976 that had been condemned by the Netherlands.

Murdered Albanian had Militia in Dutch Village


The recently murdered Albanian, Festim Lato, who lived in the Dutch village, Afferden, had his own militia in the town.  During a recent event for the independence day of Albania, the militia held a military parade in his garden.  The municipality, the Dutch prosecution and the police knew about  this but took no action.

Amsterdam Airbnb refuses to reduce number of rental days


Airbnb refuses to reduce the number of days that homes can be rented in Amsterdam from 60 to 30 days a year.  That is the current vacation limit for Amsterdam.  Airbnb has now been suspended from the Amsterdam’s economic boards, Network Council and is in jeopardy of being terminated from the board altogether.
