Ministry Paid Black Money for Rent of Embassies

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been paying rents for the residences of Dutch diplomats in a number of development countries in black money. Among those mentioned are housing facilities in India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka until 2007. Former Dutch ambassador Bastiaan Körner said that this way the ministry pays less rent. However, operating in this manner is against both international rules and the internal regulations of the ministry of foreign affairs as diplomats abroad must respect local laws. The ministry of foreign affairs does not deny that this practice may still persist.
