The court in the Hague has concluded that the Council for
Aviation has partly failed in its conclusions regarding the aircrash of a Martinair
– now part of KLM plane near the Portuguese town of Faro. Fifty six people died and more than a hundred
were severely wounded. Almost all Dutchmen. The Council for Avivation had attributed the crash to sudden bad weather but neglected possible error by the pilots.
The court decided that the Dutch state therefore has a responsibility of 20%
for the consequences suffered.
