Minister: Pesticides in Ground Water for drinking Uses.

Minister of Infrastructure and Environment Melanie Schultz van Haegen says that a quarter of ground water in the Netherlands, from which drinking water is extracted, contains too high or nearly too high levels of pesticides. She called it “cause for concern.” The substances found in the ground water mostly involved herbicides and breakdown products. The minister pointed out that in ground water contamination can take a long time and may manifest for many years after use.
