Police and Military Police Devote Too Little Time to Human Trafficking

Corinne Dettmeijer, the national rapporteur on human trafficking has published the annual Dutch human trafficking monitor.  The number of possible victims of human trafficking declined in 2015 to 1,321 as compared to 1,561 in 2014.  The rapporteur does not consider this a positive development as she says that it is a result of a declined focus of the police and the military police. She recommends to the Minister of Justice not to neglect the issue of human trafficking because of other priorities.  Dettmeijer also recommends careful control of refugees and migrants.
