Long-Term Unemployment Increases

The long term unemployment in the Netherlands has tripled since 2009.  Presently, 2.8% of the professional population has been unemployed for at least a year.  These make up 40% of the total unemployment. Most of those who have been unemployed in the long term are relatively older and have a lower level of education, which diminishes their chances of gaining suitable employment.
