Attorney-General's Office Investigates Illegal Dumping of Mud in Amsterdam

The Attorney-General's office is investigating the Amsterdam Municipality's involvement in the illegal dumping of a thousand tons of dredging mud by a private firm in the west harbor. A day before this was announced, it became known that the Municipality had reached a settlement with the Justice Department and will pay a 100,000 Euro penalty in order to avoid prosecution for environmental offenses in the years 2001 and 2003.
