A report commissioned by a literacy foundation from Price
Waterhouse Cooper (PWC), found that 2.5 million people in the Netherlands
cannot read or write properly. This is
twice the number that was previously thought.
According to the researchers, a conservative estimate is that these
people cost the Netherlands more than €1 billion per year.
