Two Dutch soldiers were killed by grenades in Mali in
2016. The parents of these soldiers
said that the Military Policed informed them that their sons were killed due to a
manufacturing error of the grenades. A report by the Dutch Safety Board
revealed that the grenades were never inspected, improperly stored and that
these soldiers in Mali didn’t have access to quality medical care. The parents are now pressing charges of death
through negligence against the Ministry of Defense and an unknown number of
defense employees. The Dutch Ministry of Defense does not want to mention names
of the employees who played a crucial role in the run up to the accident.
