The Amsterdam mayor, Eberhard van der Laan and the secretary
of the municipality, Arjan van Gils, have sent a letter to the municipal
council in which they claim that there are huge
problems in the firefighters unit. The
workers representatives and their allies do not wish to fight against the
racism, discrimination, and bullying in the unit. The new head of the unit
dismissed an employee who done this. The
employee did not deny that he had committed racism, discrimination and
bullying. However, the judge decided
that since the previous head of the unit had done nothing about it, the new
head cannot dismiss him. The decision of
the judge was considered a victory in the unit.
