The National Coordinator for Counter-terrorism and Security,
Dick Schoof, says that there are about 80 children of Dutch jihadists who are
growing up in ISIS territory. Dutch
security forces are concerned that these youngsters are already a threat to the
Netherlands. The Dutch General
Intelligence Service, AIVD, monitors children from the age of 9 because they
are used to commit attacks in Iraq and Syria.
The AIVD says that these children are trained to use weapons and make
explosives and are brain-washed in jihad classes. At least 280 Dutch people travelled to Syria
to join ISIS. 50 of them have since
returned to the Netherlands. More are
expected in view of the increasingly problematic ISIS situation of ISIS on the
ground in Syria and Iraq.
