Deputy Mayor Lodewijk Asscher, has announced that the Amsterdam Municipality intends to reduce the number of “prostitute windows” in the red light district from 482 last year to 243. The city also wants to close half the 76 cannabis shops in the city center. Asscher added: “We can still have sex and drugs, but in a way that shows that the city is in control.”
