Labor Party Cancels Acceptance of the IHRA antisemitism definition
After the parliamentary faction of the Dutch Labor Party (PvdA) had voted in favor of the IHRA definition of antisemitism, the party decided at their annual conference to cancel this. This is the first time a Dutch party has accepted and then cancelled the adoption of the definition.

Amsterdam: Explosion of use of weapons by minors
Amsterdam police are worried about the large number of
incidences concerning youngsters with weapons.
In the last two years, in the Amsterdam area
, the number of minors
involved in weapons incidences or arrested for possession of weapons has

Shortage of Judges Lead to Delay of more than 20 000 criminal cases
Gerrit van der Burg, President of the College of Prosecutors
General has said that due to a shortage of judges, 22,700 cases will not be heard
this year. This while criminality is increasing and police attempt to deal better with the fight against crime. 2,200 of these concern cases
where the prosecution are requesting at least one year jail time, for crimes related to drugs and violence. Among the reasons given, is budget cuts over the past several
years and the increasing complexity of criminal cases. Van der Burg said that
this is a societal problem and cannot only be reproached to the justice system.

Dutch Chief Rabbi Daily Target of Jew Hatred
Dutch
Chief Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs says that he is increasingly a victim of
anti-Jewish incidents. People shout at him ‘cancer Jew’ or ‘Hitler.’ If
he walks he sometimes hears “Yehoed, Yehoed.” These are usually people of
foreign origins but also original Dutch people scold him. He says that he
takes into account that a physical attack on him will take place. Police
recommend that he should not use public transport.

Dutch Authorities Issue Alert over Missing Pregnant Asylum Seekers
Dutch authorities have issued an alert over the
disappearance in November and December of at least 25 heavily pregnant African
women housed in asylum shelters in the Netherlands. The alert was put out by the Expertise Center
for Human Trafficking and Smuggling. Further investigation by the Guardian and
Argos has revealed that women including unaccompanied minors, pregnant women
and those with newborn babies continue to disappear on a weekly basis from
asylum shelters across the Netherlands.

Slow bureaucracy leads to huge payments for asylum seekers
In the Netherlands money is being
paid to asylum seekers if the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) does
not treat an asylum request within six months. Deputy Minister of Justice, Broekers-Knol
has written to parliament saying that the fines the IND has to pay this year
are likely to reach €70 million as against
a budget of €17 million.

The Portophone System C2000 of the Police has Many Problems
The worker’s council of the police states that in the entire
Netherlands there are problems with the Portophone system C-2000. The worker’s council calls this unacceptable
and speaks about unsafe situations for policemen. A few days ago a policemen in
Tilburg was attacked and could not get help via the system. The same happened earlier
in Amsterdam. The police management says
that people are working day and night to repair the problem.
