Dutch Minister of Defense, Jeanine Hennis, has said that the
Dutch army is no place for people with radical views. This includes Salafists. If a soldier becomes a Salafist during his
army service, he is to be discharged from the army. Her statement came following many
parliamentary questions concerning the Dutch sergeant who had joined the
Islamic State. Hennis, however, opposed
the PVV’s view which would prevent all Muslims from joining the Dutch army. She
said, “Muslim soldiers are also willing to lay down their lives in extreme
cases for the freedom of all Dutch citizens, including adherents of the PVV”.
