The organization Hulp & Recht (Help and Justice) will be disbanded due to its failure to help sexual abuse victims. The Dutch bishops had established it in 1995 in order to assist victims. However, these victims and several collaborators claimed that the institution was far more oriented toward the interests of the Church than those of the victims. In the meantime, it has become clear that many youngsters had been sexually abused a number of years ago by Catholic priests in the Netherlands. More than 1,800 complaints have been lodged.
