According to the military trade union, ACOM, two-thirds of the 87 F-16 planes are grounded because they are in need of maintenance. Chairman Jan Kleian of ACOM said that in order to keep the remainder flying, parts are taken out from the grounded planes to carry out repairs of the remaining flying planes. He forecasts that ultimately there will only remain skeleton planes in the hangars. He added that three years ago, there were still 45 planes which were able to fly.
