The Scandal of the Previous Chairman of the Police Works Council

An investigation commission has disclosed many highly problematic activities of the previous chairman of the Works Council of the national police, Frank Giltay.  While the police force was cutting costs, Giltay decided that meetings of the Works Council should be held in expensive locations.  He hid the major use of alcohol at the expense of the police. The head of the national police at the time must have known of the problems concerning Giltay, but despite this, proposed to increase his salary.  The current head of police has dismissed Giltay.

Amsterdam Residents March against Problems Caused by Tourism

A group of Amsterdam residents marched through streets of the old western neighborhood of their town to protest the hindrance by tourists.  They carried banners and megaphones and shouted slogans like:  “Amsterdam not for sale” and “Whose city? Our city!”

Senior Amsterdam Official in Charge of Radicalization-prevention dismissed

The program-manager at the Amsterdam municipality in charge of prevention of radicalization among youngsters has been fired. She had given various assignments on behalf of the municipality to her friends. She is also accused of changing the terms of proposals submitted. She is furthermore reproached of not having adequately intervened concerning youngsters of whom it was known that they were attracted to the jihad. A criminal investigation is still under way.

Almost a third of Dutch welfare recipients receive psychological treatment

A study by Statistics Netherlands and Harvard University has found that 31% of welfare recipients in the Netherlands are receiving psychological treatment.  Among people who go to work and school, 10% receive such treatment. People on welfare account for 58% of Dutch mental health costs.  The study was done on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.

Dutch Muslims should rise against fundamentalism

Dutch Sociologist who specializes in migration, Professor Ruud Koopmans, says that Dutch Muslims should come out much more forcefully against terrorist attacks.  He said that demonstrating against Muslim terror is a good way to fight against radicalization.  He said that the general population sees that Muslims are willing to demonstrate against Israel, or in favor of Turkish President Erdogan.  Koopmans also stated that while it is a lie that violence has nothing to do with Islam, terrorists themselves declare that they commit their criminal acts in the name of Islam.

Possibly illegal cameras on Dutch National Railways Billboards

The Dutch Railway company, NS, has been found to allow advertisers to insert cameras in their billboards to monitor travelers in order to study how long people look at the billboard.  It has become known that at Amsterdam Central Station there are 35 such digital billboards.  According to a spokesperson of privacy watchdog, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the use of the cameras may well be illegal.

Dutch Judge Dismissed Anti-Israel Inciter Can Sue Dutch Government

Yasmina Haifi, (a Labor Party candidate in Parliamentary elections) was dismissed by the National Cyber Security Center after she had tweeted that “ISIS has nothing to do with Islam. It’s part of a plan by Zionists who are deliberately trying to blacken Islam’s name.” She was then readmitted by the Justice Ministry as an employee in a different position. She has brought a law suit against the Ministry saying that she had no prospects for advancement at the Ministry.  A Judge has now ruled that Haifi (a Muslim), may take her case to a Labor Court because a written reprimand would have been sufficient as her statement was protected by freedom of speech.
