Dutch Parliament Inquires about Illegal Buildings of Dutch King in Greece

The Dutch Parliament wants clarification from the government about its involvement in the Greek holiday villa of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. According to Greek media, there is illegal building on the land acquired by the Dutch state and “all Greek laws have been broken.” The same is true for the building of a private harbor next to the villa and a new hedge around the entire complex. A group of locals in the village of Kranidi is angry that three ministers have given permissions which break laws. A civil movement speaks about environmentally unfriendly behavior by representatives of a foreign state who are guests in Greece. This story recalls the problems around an earlier holiday villa which the King and Queen bought in Mozambique in 2007.
