Broadcast Tower Collapses after Fire

The broadcast tower at Hoogersmilde collapsed after a fire there. It consisted of an 80 meter concrete construction and on top of it was a 200 meter steel tower. A second broadcast tower at IJsselstein, in another part of the country also burned on the same day. Radio and TV transmissions in parts of the Netherlands were disrupted. An area around the collapsed tower has been evacuated.
