Rotterdam Municipality: All Antillean Men in the Squares are Suspect

The Rotterdam Municipality has distributed to all residents of the Tarwewijk neighborhood a folder explaining that all Antillean men caught loitering on the neighborhood squares are a priori suspects. This is because there are too many problems in the neighborhood, including drugs. The police watch these people specially and if they are arrested, they are either punished or given special treatment. Glenn Helberg, the Chairman of the Organization of Caribbean Dutchmen, has said that they will take action against the municipality, as it is wrong to claim a whole ethnic group as problem-makers. He added that this is stigmatizing and promotes discrimination.
