Doctors Without Borders Must Reimburse Ransom Money
The Swiss Federal Court has ruled that Doctors Without Borders must pay 270,000 Euro to the Dutch government as part of the ransom paid in 2004 for the release of its former member Arjan Erkel, who was kidnapped in the Russian republic Dagestan. This will complete their half share of the cost of one million Euro that was paid. Erkel says that publishing these financial data may give ideas to future kidnappers.
