Officials Can Interrogate People under 23 Years of Age

Officials in charge of monitoring compulsory school attendance, accompanied by the police, can interrogate anyone in the streets who looks younger than 23. This measure was taken as a consequence of the high rate of absenteeism in schools. Municipal councilor Huub Verweij of the Liberal Party (VDD) said that this approach is far too harsh.
