Half of Amsterdam Population is Colored, Power is White


More than half of the population of Amsterdam is colored, but the power in the town is white. An analysis of 20 leading organizations shows that of 561 people in senior positions, only 22 are non-white. Of the 53 elected political figures only seven are of non-western origin. Among overall municipal employees the number of non-whites is 10%.

Regional Buses Again on Strike


Almost everywhere in the Netherlands regional bus drivers are striking for better salaries. The strike has been called for an unlimited time.

Labor Party Wants Strategy against Radical Islam


The Labor Party wants a strategy against radical mosques, in order to prevent imams from promoting hatred and inciting youngsters against Dutch society. Earlier the Liberal Party (VVD) and the Christian Democrats (CDA) had called for actions against Salafism after warnings by the National Intelligence Service (AIVD). Labor parliamentarian Jeroen Dijsselbloem said that there are five Salafist mosques in Eindhoven, Tilburg, The Hague, Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Parliamentarian Henk Kamp (VVD) wants to close the Salafist mosques and where possible, to expel their imams.

Half of Officers Think Dutch Afghanistan Mission is Senseless


Half of the Dutch officers and non-commissioned officers who have served in Afghanistan think that the mission is senseless. Three-quarters of them say that politicians have insufficient knowledge of the situation there. The officers feel that they don’t get enough support from the politicians and the Dutch people. These were the findings of a poll ordered by the Nova Television program.

Imam Justifies Rape


The Hogeschool InHolland college is likely to terminate the employment of the radical imam Bahaudiin Budak. On the website of the Dutch Islamic Radio (NIO), he answered a question by a woman who had been raped by her nephew and asked what she should do. He replied that she should forgive her nephew and come to an agreement with him that it should never happen again.

Minister of Justice: Cartoonist Detained for Too Long


Justice Minister Hirsch Ballin has criticized the detention of the Dutch cartoonist Gregorius Nekschot of 30 hours. He said that the detention could probably have been for a shorter time. The Parliament, however, had been even more critical of the detention.

Police: Quran at Half Price, Bible for Free


The head of the Amsterdam Police Corps was offering policemen a 50% reduction on a Dutch translation of the Quran. This was criticized by many parliamentarians. The Reformed Bible Foundation thereupon decided to offer police in the major cities a free Bible.
