German supermarkets
have removed tens of thousands of Dutch eggs because they were contaminated
with the toxic insecticide fipronil. It
concerns around 73 000 eggs from an organic chicken farmer in the
Netherlands. Some of the eggs were
already sold before the contamination was discovered. Last year, in the
Netherlands thousands of chickens and countless eggs had to be destroyed for
the same reason.
