The Joint Officers Organizations (GOV) call the Dutch Land Forces
"a sick old man." In addition to the extra 1.5 billion Euro made
available this year for the land army, many additional funds are necessary for
tanks, canons and air defense rockets in order for the army to meet NATO norms.
As far as personnel is concerned, internal reviews of the Defense Ministry show
that almost 1 out of 4 functions are vacant.
