The Telegraaf
daily has received a variety of declarations from people working within the
aviation field who claim that in the Netherlands, the screening process for new
pilots is poor, and that psychological problems and the use of medications can
easily be hidden. The newspaper has the
names of the individuals who have brought these claims forward. They wish to remain anonymous toward the
public and do not want to endanger their licenses and careers by coming into
the open.

Dutch Government Unable to Discover Who Finances Mosques
Minister of
Security and Justice Van der Steur has written to parliament claiming that
there is little transparency on how Muslim institutions in the Netherlands are financed.
He added that many mosques work with “informal transactions” and cash
payments. Van der Steur says that while
religious communities have the right to raise money abroad, he is worried that
donors may influence the attitudes of mosques.
A study by the Ministry of Social Affairs has not been able to find out
much about the foreign financing of Dutch mosques. Yet it is known that countries
such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar finance foreign mosques in order to propagate
their version of Islam.

Dutch Railways Use Dangerous Old Trains
The Dutch
railways, NS, has for years continued to use old trains which can easily derail
after any incident and thus cause enormous damage and delays. Already back in 2008, the transport inspector
warned the NS about these trains. A few
days ago, a train of this kind, a Mat 64, hit a car. The driver of the car was
killed and the train derailed. The
repairs to the railway took a week.
There are 47 of the Mat 64 trains currently in use by NS.

Information from Dutch Intelligence Services Falls into Criminals’ Hands
Socialist Party parliamentarian Ronald van Raak says that information from the Dutch intelligence service, AIVD, has come into the hands of criminals after data was stolen from VDC, the intelligence service on the island of Curaçao. Van Raak says that this is perhaps the largest theft of information from any intelligence service, ever. A senior employee of the VDC told its ombudsman that he had to tell a number of Columbians about the security procedures of the VDC upon the orders of the prime minister of Curaçao. A few weeks later, he was ordered to give over all the code words, and thereafter, all data could be copied, including those which had been exchanged between the AIVD and the American intelligence services.

in Afghanistan.

Christian Democrats: Netherlands has an Education Problem
Sybrand
Buma, leader of the Christian Democrats, says that the Netherlands has an
education problem. Youngsters have to be
educated to understand that they have duties. Therefore, a national service draft
has to be instituted. After high school,
students should be obliged to work for a number of months for a volunteer
organization, the Ministry of Defense or another such social institution. The students can then show that they are
doing something for the Netherlands, and a future employer can see that they
are competent. Buma added that in the
Netherlands, a society has been created where the question “what can I get out
of it?” has become far more dominant than “what can I do for society?” Duties, and not only rights, belong to a functional
society, and recognition of such is lacking in the Netherlands.

Mother Abducts Two Children and Brings Them to Syria
A thirty-two
year old woman from Maastricht has abducted her two children and smuggled them
to Syria. The boy is 8 years old and the

Maastricht. The father has not given his
permission for the children to be taken out of the Netherlands. The prosecutor in Maastricht said that it is
the first time Dutch children have been abducted to the Caliphate. The intelligence services had indications
that the woman might leave for abroad, but because of lack of detailed
information, no action was undertaken.
Finally, the woman, who is of Chechen origin, departed with a false

Nursing Homes Waste 1 Billion Euro per Year
Every year,
Dutch nursing homes waste 1 billion euros.
This is due to too-high energy bills, the purchase of expensive goods, and
unnecessary paperwork. Also, they often
spend too much money on unnecessary medication and surplus overhead. Furthermore, almost half of the hot meals are
thrown away at the end of the day. These
results are from research done by the MAX broadcasting station.

Dutch Railways Sabotaged Bids from Competitors
The
state-owned Dutch railways, NS has sabotaged competing transport companies in bids for the

the NS. The NS manages the Dutch railway stations, and
is thus obliged to make sure that in the case of bids, all bidders have an
equal chance. As a result of the

Frank van
Vree, Dean of the Humanities Faculty, has written that the eleven days during
which students occupied the Bunge House, a building of the Amsterdam

several staff members’ yearly salaries.
Among the costs, Van Vree mentioned vandalized toilets, lost income from

Prime Minister: Preventing Threats to the Netherlands Requires Additional Money
The Dutch cabinet
has budgeted an additional 128.8 million euros to be spent over the next five
years on structural improvements in the fight against terrorism and jihadi
threats. Almost 29 million euros will be
used for the security of specific institutions, including parliament and Jewish
institutions. About 69 million euros will
be spent on the intelligence services, and 14 million for rapid response teams.
The analysis undertaken by the NCTV, the National Coordinator for the Fight against
Terror, shows that the current level of threats will last for a long period to
come.

Horror Owl Has More Victims than Publicized
The horror
owl in Purmerend has attacked many more victims than has been originally published. At least 15 mentally handicapped inhabitants of
an institution, along with their caretakers, have been attacked. A spokesperson of the institution says that
many of its residents no longer dare to go outside, even though it would be
very healthy for them to do so.
Everybody who is attacked by the owl is wounded, and many have had to go
to the emergency ward to get vaccinated against tetanus. In the meantime, the
owl has made international news. Media
such as the BBC and The Guardian have published about it.
