Haren: Thirty-four Arrested after Major Riots


Between 3,000-5,000 youngsters came to the town of Haren after a girl there had by mistake, announced her birthday party on Facebook, without stating that it was a private party. Even though the police were present with 500 officers, they could not prevent the plunder of shops, major destruction, the throwing of glass, stones and bicycles at the police. The special riot unit of the police fought for hours with the hooligans. Some policemen had to run away in order not to be killed. Twenty-nine people were treated in hospitals, also several policemen were wounded. Thirty-four people have been arrested so far, the police expect to make more arrests.
