The General Intelligence Service (AIVD) had already warned the government and some businesses last year about the risks of digital spying. In its report, the AIVD said that there is a low awareness in the Netherlands of these risks. Recently, due to poor safety of the DigiNotar security certificates, hackers of suspected Iranian government origin have broken into various Dutch computer systems and stole information about Iranian adversaries in the Netherlands of their government.
