Supreme Court: Wilders Undermines Justice

The president of the Supreme Court, Geert Corstens, has indirectly criticized Freedom Party Leader Geert Wilders. Corstens said that the remarks Wilders made during the proceedings against him about the court undermine justice in the Netherlands. He added that the parliamentarian should work for the stability of justice. Wilders reacted saying that his statements about the court were correct as it was biased. He added that Corstens should instead, devote his attention to the mistakes of judges such as Tom Schalken of the Amsterdam court.
These people create the suspicion against speaking justice in the Netherlands.

Hilvarenbeek: Excrement Week Prolonged Because of Success

The Excrement Week in the Safari Park at Beekse Bergen is such a success, that it has been extended for a week. Until now, thirty-five thousand people have attended, which makes it one of those most successful events in the history of the park. The park spokesman expects another twenty-five thousand visitors. Excrements are the central theme of the week - children can smell a variety of excrements of different animals.

Wilders Complains to Police about Judge

PVV Leader Geert Wilders accompanied by his lawyer, Bram Moszkowicz has put in a police complaint about Judge Tom Schalken of the Amsterdam court. Wilders said that the judge has attempted to influence one of the witnesses in the proceedings against him. Schalken participated in a dinner three days before the proceedings started. The Arabist Hans Jansen was also present. He was an expert on behalf of Wilders in the proceedings. Jansen wrote that Schalken raised the issue of the proceedings there. Schalken is one of the judges who initially forced the Prosecution to bring
proceedings against Wilders.

High Level of Violence against Nurses in Hospitals

A new study by Dutch consumer organization Consumentenbond shows that more than half of the nurses polled have been confronted with aggression in the past half year. Among the 400 people polled, several have considered changing profession. Almost 4 out of 10 feel seriously threatened, but they often do not submit police complaints. The chairperson of the nurses’ professional organization, NU’91, concludes that nurses are confronted daily with aggression.

Muslim Violence against Christians in Dutch Asylum Centers

In 21 out of 28 Dutch asylum centers, Christian asylum seekers are being threatened. In 1 out of 3, there is physical violence against them, usually by Muslim asylum seekers there. This was found by research from the Stichting Gave, a Christian organization which helps asylum seekers. A large majority of Parliament has asked the minister of immigration and asylum, Gerd Leers (Christian Democrat), to investigate the matter. Parliamentarian Joël Voordewind says that it is “terrible that people who often flee to the Netherlands because of their beliefs, and who should be safe here, are being oppressed.”

Wilders Process Judges Removed in View of Suspected Bias

A panel of oversight judges has removed all judges of the Amsterdam court sitting in the process of Geert Wilders, the leader of the right wing Freedom Party (PVV). Wilders faces of five accounts of giving offense to Muslims and of inciting hatred against Muslims and people of non-Western immigrant origin, particularly Moroccans. The prosecution has asked for Wilders’ acquittal on all accounts. Wilders’ defense lawyer had asked for the removal of the judges claiming that they were biased. The oversight panel said that these concerns were “understandable.”

Turkey Calls in Dutch Diplomat about Government Policy

The Turkish government has called in the Dutch chargé d’affaires in Ankara to complain about the Dutch government agreement and the external support for it by the Freedom Party (PVV). The Turkish government is worried about the PVV’s influence and the passages in the agreement which may cause problems for Turks, such as the limitations on social security for Turks who return to Turkey.

Taliban Threatens Netherlands with Attack

Zabiullah Mujahed, the official Taliban spokesman in eastern and northern Afghanistan, has told the Volkskrant daily that the Taliban may carry out an attack in the Netherlands if what he calls the “anti-Islam policy” of the Freedom Party of Geert Wilders is carried out. Mujahed said that if the Dutch Parliament passes more anti-Islamic laws, Muslims from other countries will undoubtedly take action to help their Muslim brothers and sisters. Earlier, a Taliban official from Pakistan mentioned the possibility of an attack on the Netherlands. In an interview with RTL news, Pakistani Taliban commander Wali-ur Rehman said that he wanted to teach the Netherlands a lesson about the anti-Islamic tone in the country.

Stones Thrown Twice at Rabbi’s Home

In recent weeks, stones were thrown twice at the home of Binyomin Jacobs, chief rabbi of the Dutch provincial rabbinate, breaking windows in his home. Once, when he went out, a stone nearly hit him. Jacobs stated that in the past, he was never verbally abused in the streets, and now it is a regular phenomenon. Jacobs lives in Amersfoort, where the synagogue was smeared with red paint in June.

Hilvarenbeek: Excrement Week Draws Large Crowd

The Beekse Bergen safari park is drawing a large crowd with its excrement week (Poepweek). During the week, excrement is the central topic. Children can smell a variety of types of animal excrement. The park rangers tell them about how food moves through the bodies of monkeys, lions, and buffalo. People can also buy a bucket with elephant excrement. The park recommends this excrement as a fertilizer for roses.

The Hague: Two Police Cars Burned

While police detectives were busy with investigations in an apartment, their two cars were torched. One of the cars was not recognizable as a police car. The police are investigating.

Dordrecht: Mosque Shot At

The mosque belonging to the Turkish community in the Merwedestraat in Dordrecht has been shot at. The bullet hit an outside door. A number of people were present in the mosque, but were not harmed. The police has no indication of who committed the crime and what the motives could be.

80% of Homosexuals: Situation in Amsterdam Has Deteriorated

A study by the TV station AT5 and the daily Her Parool has found that 80% of homosexuals interviewed consider that the climate for homosexuals in Amsterdam has deteriorated. 70% of heterosexuals agree with this. 75% assume that much of the physical and verbal violence is largely committed by Moroccans. Almost 50% of Amsterdam homosexuals are afraid to identify themselves in public.

More Than Half of Dutch Girls Feel Unsafe at Night

A poll of more than 500 girls between the ages of 11 – 18 undertaken by the development organization PLAN found that more than half do not feel safe when walking through their own neighborhood at night. An even bigger group is afraid to travel in the evening or at night in town. Of those polled more than 40% said that they know somebody who has been manhandled.

The Hague: Increase in Criminal Youth Gangs

In 2009 there were at least 10 criminal youth gangs in The Hague as against 5 in 2005. There are 79 problematic youth groups identified in the city. Within the most criminal of these groups the dominant ethnicity is Moroccan. Nine of the ten criminal groups operate in The Hague itself, only one in the suburb.

Rotterdam: Antilleans and Moroccans lead Criminality

Antilleans and Moroccans are the ethnic groups most involved in criminal activity in Rotterdam. In 2009 7.2% of the Antilleans and 4.6% of Moroccans were suspected of a crime. Among people from Surinam there is almost 4%, and among Turks almost 3%. The average of all people in Rotterdam is 2%. Between 2000 and 2009 almost a third of Antilleans had a police file in light of being suspected of a crime, while more than 22% of Moroccans and almost 22% of people from Surinam had such a file. The average of all Rotterdam inhabitants is 12.6%. The study was undertaken by the Erasmus University.

Police Involved in More than 19,000 Traffic Accidents

In 2008 and 2009 policemen were involved in more than 19,000 traffic accidents. 87 civilians were wounded and one was killed. From 2005 to 2007 11 civilians were killed through traffic accidents in which the police was involved. As the police was the cause of the accidents in most cases, this has led to substantial cost for the police service.

Parliamentarian: Letter of Bishop Disgusting

Assistant Bishop, Everard de Jong of Roermond, has sent a letter to all parliamentarians in which he attacks abortions. He wrote that the Netherlands has to save on everything in the coming years so why not on the bloody abortion clinics. In the coming years we need hundreds of thousands of working hands to care of people. The people who could wash us with care we have killed ourselves. He included in the letter a doll of a ten month old fetus. Parliamentarian Jeanine Hennis (Liberals) called the letter “disgusting”.

Groningen: Arson in Mosque

An arson attempt was undertaken at the mosque in the Groningen neighborhood of Selwerd. There was also graffiti sprayed on the mosque walls saying ‘do not make us angry’. In March this year the mosque was besmirched with blood. Near the building the head of a wild boar was found.

Squatter Riots in Amsterdam – Eleven Arrested

A protest in Amsterdam against the new anti-squatter law has turned violent. Police has to throw tear gas to disperse the demonstrators. Two policemen and three police horses were wounded. Also several squatters were wounded. The rioters put up barricades and destroyed a car. They threw stones at the police. Eleven squatters were arrested. Amsterdam mayor Eberhard van der Laan said it is normal for the police to act against violence and intimidation.

Military Historian: Dutch Command Responsible for Torture by Afghans

Afghan soldiers, who were under Dutch command, tortured hostages in October 2007. According to the KRO media a Dutch soldier filmed the torture. On the pictures one can see blindfolded Taliban prisoners who are beaten by Afghan soldiers and also hit with batons on the soles of their feet. This took place in the Baluchi valley in northern Uruzgan. The military historian, Chris Klep, claims that the Dutch commander under whose command the Afghans served, is responsible for the torture. The Ministry of Defense says that the Afghans should be considered responsible.
