The number of complaints in Amsterdam about pickpockets has increased by 30% in 2012 in comparison with 2011. Amsterdam police chief Pieter-Jan Aalbersberg says that pickpockets focus now more on places of entertainment, instead of on the public domain. Complaints about streetrobberies have increased: by 6.5%. The Amsterdam police have arrested overall 12% less people: 35,292 in 2012 as against 40,356 the year before.
