Homosexual Refugees Live in Life-Threatening Conditions in Asylum Centers
Janneke van Maanen is the interim chairperson of the LGBT
advocacy organization (COC) in the Dutch province of Gelderland. She says that homosexuals and transgenders
live under life-threatening conditions in asylum centers. Safe houses are urgently needed. She reported that barbarian attacks occur in
these centers of a kind previously unheard of in the Netherlands. Excrement is put in people’s beds, clothes
are burnt, people are beaten up and razor blades are used to cut others. The COC report twenty complaints of
harassment and threats nationwide.
