Increase in Threats Against Politicians

The public prosecution has announced that in 2010, politicians were threatened with violence 353 times. That is an increase of 8%. Deputy ministers, parliamentarians, mayors, aldermen and members of the municipal council were threatened. In 201 cases, the public prosecution considered that these were criminal acts. Ninety-two cases were resolved. In 72 of the cases, the threats were from minors.
