Halbe Zijlstra, leader of the VVD (liberal party) which leads the Dutch government coalition says that he is disgusted by immigrants who do not share Dutch ‘norms’ and ‘values’ and have sharia-like opinions. He referred specifically to those who do not accept freedom of religion, and gender equality. Those people who abuse Christians and consider single women prostitutes and assault them should get out of the Netherlands. Those who want to introduce sharia should go to Saudi Arabia.

More than two-thirds of stolen art and antiques in the Netherlands can hardly be found. Victims often do not own pictures or exact data of the stolen items. They therefore cannot be registered in the National Police database of stolen art. This was reported by Martin Finkelnberg, the head of the National Police team for art and antique theft, who manages the national database. About 2,500 pictures are currently registered in the database, including pictures by Picasso, Vincent van Gogh and Frans Hals.

Dutch journalist Harald Doornbos paid 750 Euros for a “genuine” Syrian passport and identity card, affixed with the picture of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. The procedure took 40 hours. Since the war in Syria, thousands of empty passports and the printers of the Syrian government are in the hands of Sunni rebels. They sell the passports to anyone willing to pay. All one needs is a telephone number of one of the falsifiers. According to the journalist, Jihadists show their false Syrian passports to European authorities, who do not realize that the passports are fake. They often enter Europe through Greece, and can from there travel through Europe freely due to the Schengen Agreement.

Dutch Minister of Defense, Jeanine Hennis, has said that the Dutch army is no place for people with radical views. This includes Salafists. If a soldier becomes a Salafist during his army service, he is to be discharged from the army. Her statement came following many parliamentary questions concerning the Dutch sergeant who had joined the Islamic State. Hennis, however, opposed the PVV’s view which would prevent all Muslims from joining the Dutch army. She said, “Muslim soldiers are also willing to lay down their lives in extreme cases for the freedom of all Dutch citizens, including adherents of the PVV”.

Professor Cyrille Fijnaut, a leading Dutch criminologist, has said that those who conceived and implemented the re-organisation of the National Police are incompetent and should be fired. He added: “why would the people who came up with the wrong plans and then executed them inadequately not be replaced? Is it possible that they would excel in the future in activities where so far they have obviously proved unsuccessful?” Former chief commissioner of the Amsterdam police, Joop van Riessen, reserves his criticism for Minister of Security and Justice, Ard van der Steur . He says those mainly responsible for the problems in the national police are politicians. He added “the Minister wants to deflect attention away from his own failures.”

RIVM concluded that the risk to the soldiers of contracting leukemia from use of PX-10 was minimal. Professor Jan Tytgat, an expert on the subject who teaches toxicology at Leuwen Catholic University in Belgium, says that this study should be redone, as the RIVM focused too much on statistics instead of reviewing individual cases.

A Dutch sergeant has joined the Islamic State. Experts say that he might pass on names and addresses of his fellow soldiers to the IS. Rumor has it that he was serving at an air force base, which makes this possibility particularly worrying, especially since the Dutch air force participates in bombing IS bases. Anything he knows about air force base security is also at risk of exposure. While this is the first verified report of an active Dutch soldier joining the IS, it was discovered that at some point after 2012, a former Dutch soldier Omar Yilmaz also joined the fighting in Syria.
