Kees van der Staaij, leader of the Christian SGP Party has been severely intimidated and threatened after he said that most rapes do not lead to pregnancy. His party opposes abortions. He said that there is little commotion in the Netherlands about 30,000 abortions per year. After the threats, he now travels with bodyguards.

The Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies (NIOD) is disappointed because the government is unwilling to investigate the use of violence by the Dutch during the decolonization of Indonesia. Spokesman David Barnouw of the NIOD said, “One has to wait for a new government.” More and more data are coming to light about Dutch violence including a recently broadcast interview with Captain Westerling, who admitted multiple war crimes.

Police trade union ACP criticized National Ombudsman, Alex Brenninkmeyer. He had said that he would not further investigate a policewoman who kicked someone. He added that he had the impression that she had acted disproportionately. The ACP wonders how Brenninkmeyer justifies this, as there are varying testimonies about the incident.

Marieke Koning of the International Trade Confederation in Brussels claims that the Netherlands treats cleaning women in private households worse than in other European countries. In the Netherlands, cleaning women usually work illegally without social benefits or insurance. While this is the norm in this country, great progress has been made in giving cleaning women the same rights as other workers in countries such as France, Spain, Germany and Belgium. In 40 municipalities, law is not kept in caravan camps. In these “no-go areas,” inspector officials and ambulances do not dare enter because they are afraid of some of the inhabitants. Sjaak Khonraad, a specialized researcher at Avans College says that this figure may be on the low side.

In 1969, a TV interview was conducted with Dutch Captain Raymond Westerling, Commander of the Dutch Special Forces in the southern part of the Indonesian island Celebes (now Sulawesi) to fight the local militants. No Dutch TV station was willing to broadcast this program then. It has been broadcast now. Order on the island was restored after 3,500 Indonesians were murdered by Dutch troops. Many were executed without trial. The Dutch authorities intervened when soldiers reporting to Westerling executed prisoners. In the interview, Westerling said, “I am responsible and not the troops who were under my command. I take these deeds personally under my responsibility.” At the time, journalists who published about Dutch war crimes were threatened and had to be protected by the police.

Visitors at the beach in the Haarijnseplas in Utrecht are being terrorized by Moroccan youngsters. Recently, there were nine complaints about theft, aggression and sexual intimidation. Last year during the whole summer there were only three incidents. The municipality refuses to levy entrance fees which would prevent many troublemakers from entering.

The police in Brussels arrested more than 20 Dutch soccer hooligans around the friendly match between Belgium and the Netherlands. They were arrested for disturbing the public peace and breaking the law. Six Belgians were also arrested.

Not only in Amsterdam, from time to time dogs that eat excrement from drug addicts in the streets are brought to the hospital and have to recover with an infusion. In the town of Schiedam, at present the problem is larger. During one week alone, five dogs near a train station suffered from eating drugs – possibly from drug addicts’ excrement.

The police needed an hour and a half to help ambulance workers who came to assist the victim of a scooter accident in Noordwijk. The police had to call in all available units from nearby areas in order to confront about 100
hooligans. Bottles were thrown at the police. One person was arrested.

Mayor Fons Jacobs of Helmond has put on his Facebook page a picture of a truck transporting pigs and put on it the logo of the Amsterdam soccer club Ajax and “bus of the players.” When interviewed, the Mayor said that everyone knows that he is a supporter of the Eindhoven club, PSV. It took several days of criticism before the mayor apologized.

Non-Western immigrants have created a no-go area in the bar and restaurant district of the town. The latest incident concerns the severe beating of two girls (18 and 15) by two Moroccans after they refused to give the boys a cigarette. They were both hospitalized. In May, a 30-year old Swede was almost kicked to death by Moroccan men. In April, Moroccan youngsters beat two men so severely that they had to be hospitalized.

The police have arrested 10 soccer hooligans on the occasion of the game between the Dutch top clubs Ajax and PSV in Amsterdam. Seven shouted anti-Semitic remarks such as: "Hamas Hamas, Jews to the Gas" and three insulted policemen. The police and justice have collaborated and each one was fined between 250 and 500 Euro.

A scheduled game between the British soccer club Blackburn Rovers and the Dutch club NEC in Nijmegen was cancelled due to the threat of violence from fans. Local authorities in Nijmegen and the police took this decision after British supporters were allegedly involved in disturbances in Deventer last weekend and there was also a confrontation in Nijmegen.

Three people were wounded in Breda around a friendly soccer game between the local NAC Club and MVV from Maastricht. Fans threw chairs from street cafes at others and there was vandalism. The three wounded people were brought to the hospital and 65 fans of MVV were expelled from the city by police. As it was a friendly game, the police had not considered it a risky one beforehand.

Three quarters of the more than 400 Dutch municipalities break the “Cookie Law”on their websites. This new law from June 2012 states that websites cannot place, without good reason, “cookies” which enable the site owner to follow the behavior of site-users. These findings result from a study by the research office Novay. Transgressors of the law can be punished with sizable fines.

The Norwegian Odfjell Tank Farm company in Norway is extremely worried about the situation in Rotterdam. It has now fired the Director of the Dutch subsidiary. After head office declared that they take security extremely seriously, they could not explain why in the Netherlands its subsidiary had so many failures in this field. In the meantime, two opposition parties claim that the Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb (Labor) has failed because he had assured the municipal council in June that the situation at Odfjell was safe. In reality there were huge risks before the facilities were shut down.
